Suspected Västerås Murderer Deemed Severely Mentally Disturbed

A 38-year-old man suspected of murdering his girlfriend in Skultuna and attempting to murder his ex-wife in Västerås suffers from a severe mental disorder.

On May 9, the man in Västerås allegedly first murdered his girlfriend and then attempted to murder his ex-girlfriend.

The man was apprehended shortly after the incidents and was hospitalized after injuring himself.

Following a preliminary investigation indicating a severe mental disorder, the court sought an opinion from the National Board of Forensic Medicine.

On Monday, the results were reported by VLT.

Severe Mental Disorder

According to the report, the acts were committed under the influence of a severe mental disorder. The man was still suffering from this disorder at the time of the forensic psychological examination.

The National Board of Forensic Medicine considers the man in need of psychiatric care involving detention and other coercive measures.
