Suspected Rape in Swedish Prison: Two Inmates Detained

Two male inmates are suspected of raping another prisoner at a prison in Norrtälje. The men have been detained on probable cause for aggravated rape, reports Norrtelje Tidning.

Prison chief Magnus Jönsson declined to comment on which section the alleged crime took place but confirmed to the newspaper that it occurred among inmates.

"I can't say much more as the police are leading the investigation now. When serious incidents occur, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service also conducts its own investigation, but it is secondary. We then review our procedures: what happened? Is there anything we can do differently next time? But it's too early to say anything about that now," he told NT.
