Suspect Arrested After Fatal Attack in Gothenburg
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following an attack on another man in Gothenburg last week, reports Göteborgs-Posten.
The incident occurred last Friday when the victim, in his 20s, was reportedly collecting medication at an address in the Olskroken district. Shortly thereafter, he was allegedly assaulted by another person with a sharp object.
The man was taken to the hospital but died a few days later. He was from a small town in western Sweden and was reportedly visiting Gothenburg temporarily. He was not previously known to the police.
The police believe it was likely an unprovoked attack.
"He was found on the street. People noticed some kind of altercation and that a person collapsed on the street and raised the alarm. But we don't know why this happened," said lead investigator Göran Sundström to TT on Tuesday.
