Sunny and Warm Weather Forecasted for Next Week in Sweden

Good news for all vacationers! After several days of severe rainfall warnings, meteorologists promise excellent weather across most of the country next week.

– Sun and warmth will spread across the country, says Per Holmberg from the weather institute Stormgeo.

Large parts of Norrland have experienced very warm weather in recent days with temperatures around 30 degrees. This has caused downpours and thunderstorms in the border zone of southern Norrland and northern Svealand, where the warm air has met cooler air – and where SMHI issued a yellow warning.

But in the coming week, the sun and warmth will also spread over the rest of the country, bringing fine midsummer weather – although there is still a risk of local downpour-like rain in the same areas as before, mainly Dalarna and Gävleborg, on Monday and Tuesday.

Warm Air Spreads South

– It will be warm and sunny across the entire country as the warm air spreads south from northern and central Norrland. In the north, it is already around 30 degrees, and we may see similar temperatures in the rest of the country. It could even be tropical nights with over 20 degrees, likely in the north, says meteorologist Per Holmberg at Stormgeo.

– We will see if we break this year's heat record of 33.4 degrees set in Oskarshamn on July 2. There is a good chance of that, he says.

According to SMHI, there is uncertainty in the forecast for the week as it is unclear exactly when the rain will move away and the high pressure will spread across the entire country.

Per Holmberg at Stormgeo explains that the recent weather conditions will continue at the beginning of the week. He says that on Monday, it will remain warm in northern and central Norrland, while in northern Svealand, there will be rain and thunderstorms.

"Great Vacation Weather"

Further south, variable cloudiness is expected, while eastern Småland, Öland, and Gotland will be sunny on Monday.

– On Tuesday, it will remain really warm throughout Norrland. There is still a risk of thunderstorms in northern Svealand, but the risk decreases. The warmth spreads south, says Per Holmberg.

– On Wednesday and Thursday, it will be warm and sunny also in Svealand and Götaland. By the end of the week, great vacation weather is expected across the entire country. Also, swimming temperatures will rise if we get 30 degrees in the air for an extended period, he says.

He points out that it is very unusual to have 30 degrees for more than a week, which is expected in large parts of Norrland if the forecast comes true.
