Stubb Urges Trump to Lose Patience with Putin
Finland's President Alexander Stubb urges his American counterpart, Donald Trump, to force Russia to the negotiating table.
Stubb, who has bonded with Trump over their shared interest in golf, hopes Trump will soon lose patience with Russia's President Vladimir Putin.
"I hope the patience of Western countries—especially the USA—runs out. Every time President Trump has lost patience, he has taken actions that have helped efforts to reach a solution to the Ukraine conflict," Stubb told reporters.
As an example, Stubb highlights the significant tariffs against India that the USA is reportedly ready to impose this week.
"The latest example is the tariffs against India, as India buys Russian oil, gas, and weapons," he says, continuing:
"If President Trump were to do the same against countries X, Y, and Z, we might be able to return to the negotiating table."
