Stranded Train Adventure: Swedish Travelers Face Unexpected Delays
Elis Hållams, 18, and his friend were on their way to Berlin by train but got stuck at the German border. After being stranded for over six hours, they are now heading to Hamburg by bus.
"There have been some crazy twists," he says.
An SJ train was halted in Danish Tinglev at the German border due to an electrical line fault.
"Right now, we're waiting for the Danish and German traffic authorities to inform us if we can proceed. There are quite a few trains on the route," says Lina Edström from SJ's press office.
About 400 people were on board the stranded train. Elis Hållams and his friend, on their way to Berlin, were stuck in Denmark for over six hours.
"We got off the train to take a replacement bus, which never arrived," he says.
Travelers Ejected by Police
They managed to secure bus tickets to Hamburg just minutes before departure.
"We queued with several hundred other Swedes and somehow squeezed in to get the last seats. Everyone standing was ejected by the police," says Elis.
From there, they hope to find a connection to Berlin.
