The Social Democrats want to enable municipalities to take control of preschools with serious deficiencies, says Magdalena Andersson during a press conference.
"Ulf Kristersson and Jimmie Åkesson must answer whether they are prepared to take responsibility when we see our tax money going to luxury cars instead of educators," she states.
The news was presented by the party leader during a press conference ahead of the party leaders' debate on Wednesday.
The background is Aftonbladet's investigation of profit-driven preschools that cut back on both staff and food while making million-dollar profits.
"What these investigations show is a complete failure. Young boys and girls are denied the nutritious food they ask for. iPads with children's shows replace trained educators. All so the owners can buy luxury cars and fill their bank accounts. This is not worthy of our country," says Magdalena Andersson.
"We cannot sit idly by after the investigations we have seen. A child's upbringing never comes back. Children need continuous language development and a safe environment," says Andersson, emphasizing that society has a responsibility for a preschool system that is developmental and safe.
She further states that she expects other parties to support and vote for the proposal in the parliament.
There is already a similar investigation and proposal for schools, but today's news is that municipalities should also be able to take control of preschools.
