SMHI Issues Warning for Torrential Rainfall
100 hours of rain are expected, prompting SMHI to issue a yellow warning. On Saturday, some areas may experience torrential rain leading to flooding.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms are anticipated on Saturday. In parts of Halland and southwestern Västergötland, significant rainfall is expected, prompting SMHI to issue a warning.
The warning extends from the Kinna area, past Hyltebruk, towards the coast, past Varberg, and down to Laholm. On Saturday morning, rain and thunderstorms could bring 30 to 50 millimeters of rain in a short time, warns SMHI.
The warning is in effect from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday.
Roads and underpasses may flood, and SMHI advises motorists to avoid driving through water accumulations.
"Travel times may be longer due to poor visibility and the risk of hydroplaning. Allow extra time for your journey and adjust your speed."
100 Hours of Rain
On Saturday afternoon, the showers are expected to subside, but heavy rain is still expected to affect all of western Sweden over the weekend, from Bohuslän up to southern Norrland.
As reported by Expressen on Friday, 100 hours of rain are expected across almost the entire country.
"There is no guarantee of dry weather anywhere in the country on Saturday, and locally there may be heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms," said SMHI meteorologist Sverker Hellström on Friday.
The gray skies are expected to remain until early next week, especially in southern Sweden, where it may be both wet and windy.
