SMHI Issues Heat Warnings Across Sweden Amid Soaring Temperatures

The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued yellow warnings across the country due to high temperatures.

SMHI warns of high temperatures throughout almost the entire country, with a yellow warning issued for parts of northeastern Norrland, where temperatures are expected to reach up to 33 degrees locally.

– Temperatures are expected to reach around 30 degrees or slightly above along the northern Norrland coast up towards Tornedalen. It looks like it will be hottest there, says Josefine Qvarnesjö-Bergstedt from the weather institute Storm.

Generally, temperatures are expected to be between 25 and 30 degrees across the country. According to SMHI, there is an increased risk of health problems, especially for vulnerable groups, and the public is advised to drink water and take it easy.

Rain in the South – Sun in the North

In the north, the heat will persist throughout the week until Saturday, when temperatures will drop from 30 to 20 degrees.

– In the south, it looks like the weather change will come on Wednesday. There will be a significant shift from 27 degrees and sun to 20 degrees and rain.

The rainstorm is coming from Denmark and will move over southern Sweden on Wednesday.

– It doesn't look like there will be large amounts at present. But it will be persistent, continuous rain.
