Skistar Thrives Despite Warm Weather: Winter Prices Remain Steady

A late Easter and warm spring weather impacted Skistar's third-quarter report. Despite this, prices for the upcoming winter remain unchanged from last year, according to the CEO.

"We have released our prices for the winter, and as of now, they are essentially unchanged," says Skistar's CEO Stefan Sjöstrand.

Skistar's profit decreased by 10% to 377 million SEK during the third quarter, from March 1 to May 31. Meanwhile, revenue fell by 6% to 85 million SEK.

"Despite a late Easter and unusually warm spring, we are experiencing one of our best winter seasons," says Stefan Sjöstrand.

The first nine months of the fiscal year showed a 7% increase in operating profit to 1.1 billion SEK. Revenue increased by 2% to 4.4 billion SEK.

The increase in foreign guests is largely responsible for this growth, now accounting for 30% of our guests.

Interest in the Swedish mountains has even led to the introduction of four new flight routes from London, Manchester, Brussels, and Düsseldorf to Sälen this winter.

Bookings for the upcoming winter season 2025–2026 are at 30%, which is 1% higher than the same period last year. For the summer season, bookings are approximately 2% higher than last year, according to Stefan Sjöstrand. The company is increasingly focusing on this part of the year.

"In Åre, Sälen, and Trysil, we are expanding cycling activities, hiking packages, and family activities so more people can enjoy the mountains even in summer," he says.
