Prize money will increase across all disciplines of the World Cup for skiing and snowboarding next season.

This decision was voted through by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) during its congress on Friday.

"It is clear that we still have much to do when it comes to paying our athletes what they deserve. This is an important step, but just another on a long road ahead," says FIS President Johan Eliasch in a statement.

FIS guarantees that prize money will increase by at least 10 percent, but the federation hopes the increase will reach 20 percent with the help of local competition organizers "on a voluntary basis".
