SJ Cancels All Train Services on Flood-Affected Routes

Severe flooding in Västernorrland has halted train services, prompting SJ to announce the cancellation of all traffic on several routes, reports Tidningen Ångermanland.

The train company states that the suspended services will last until Thursday, September 11.

"We don't have enough buses to replace all the trains," says Ronny Hörstrand from SJ's press office to the newspaper.

According to SJ, the trains usually operating on the route are stuck in Umeå.

"Therefore, we cannot proceed with passengers from Sundsvall. We don't have many extra trains," says Hörstrand.

If the train stoppage is not lifted by Friday, September 12, additional departures may be canceled.

The affected routes are:

  • Sundsvall C–Umeå C/Umeå C–Sundsvall C (SJ High-Speed Train).

  • Stockholm C–Luleå–Narvik/Narvik–Luleå–Stockholm C (SJ Night Train).

Norrtåg is also canceling several departures on the Umeå–Sundsvall route.
