Should Sweden's Prime Minister Use Chat GPT for Advice?

Sweden's Prime Minister, Ulf Kristersson, has sparked debate by revealing his use of Chat GPT for professional advice. While he uses it as a 'second opinion' tool, critics question the wisdom of consulting an AI chatbot. Chat GPT itself suggests it can be useful for factual information and speech preparation but warns against using it for security-sensitive or moral issues.

Should Sweden's Prime Minister Use Chat GPT for Advice?

Should Sweden's Prime Minister use Chat GPT as a sounding board? This question has sparked debate since Ulf Kristersson shared his AI habits. "I lack context," says Chat GPT itself.

Ulf Kristersson, like 12 percent of Swedes, uses AI at work. He discussed this in an interview with Dagens industri.

– I use it quite often myself. If nothing else, for a 'second opinion.' What have others done? And should one think the exact opposite? Those types of questions, he tells the newspaper.

His press secretary, Tom Samuelsson, later specified that it involved using Chat GPT as a 'sounding board.'

– Naturally, it's not security-sensitive information that ends up there, he tells Aftonbladet.

Reaction: "Bootlicking"

The response has sparked reactions. DN writer Kristofer Ahlström calls it "laziness" and questions the wisdom of discussing decisions with "a bootlicking chatbot."

Data professor Simone Fischer-Hübner has also raised a warning finger.

– It is known that AI that does not find the right information can hallucinate and come up with something of its own that sometimes does not match, she tells Aftonbladet.

Chat GPT: I Lack Context

But what does Chat GPT itself say?

Expressen asked whether it is appropriate for Sweden's Prime Minister to consult the tool for, as he described, a 'second opinion.'

"It depends on the type of questions, but in principle – yes, it can be appropriate in some cases," Chat GPT responds, then provides several examples.

The chatbot recommends itself for gathering facts, preparing speeches and debates, and gaining an overview of various issues. However, it advises against inputting security-classified information or seeking help in moral questions.

"I lack context, responsibility, and the ability to understand the full consequences," writes the chatbot.
