A female ambulance worker has been killed while on duty. A man in his mid-20s has been arrested on suspicion of murder. "As an employer, we are deeply affected by what has happened, and our thoughts go out to the relatives," says Susanna Björklund, Deputy Director of Health and Medical Services, in a press release.
The incident occurred just before lunch on Saturday in a residential area in Harmånger, Nordanstig Municipality. The police were alerted that an ambulance employee had been injured by a sharp object.
Later, the police announced that she had died and that a man in his mid-20s had been arrested.

"Emergency services personnel stand up for all of us and do everything to save lives every day. I have received the tragic news that one of these employees was attacked and died in service today, while on duty. The chairman of the regional board, Patrik Stenvard (M), says that the region is currently fully focused on crisis support.

"Our officials are handling this now. They are on site in northern Hälsingland. We have a staff group to take care of."
Deputy Director of Health and Medical Services Susanna Björklund says that the employer's thoughts now go to the deceased woman's relatives.
"We are now working to provide support to them and our employees."

Health Minister Elisabet Lann (KD) says in a written comment:
"I have received the tragic news that a person working as ambulance personnel has lost their life in service. My thoughts go first and foremost to the relatives and colleagues.
