Shaman Durek's Explosive Claims Against Norwegian Royal Family

A Netflix documentary featuring Norwegian Princess Märtha Louise and her husband Durek Verrett has caused a stir in Norway.

In 'Rebel Royals,' viewers follow the wedding of Shaman Durek Verrett and Princess Märtha Louise, which took place over a year ago.

Many were surprised when it was revealed that the royal couple sold the film rights to Netflix. Märtha Louise's husband now shares that this is not the first time people have questioned their decisions.

The relationship between Verrett and his in-laws, King Harald and Queen Sonja, has been far from smooth. Their first meeting occurred eight months into his relationship with Märtha Louise.

"When I met the King and Queen, they just stared at me, and it was completely silent. I was wearing a kimono and cowboy boots, unaware that I should have worn a suit, as I thought I could be myself, as Märtha had said.

"That was clearly not the case, as they hated my clothes. Almost everything I did was wrong. They made that very clear to Märtha," says the shaman in the documentary.

"Didn't Know What Racism Was"

According to him, it was evident that the royal family experienced a culture clash.

"Her family didn't know what racism was. It was difficult because they looked at me as if I was crazy when I said racism existed," Verrett explains.

When he asked to marry the princess, there was a moment of silence before the royal couple gave their blessing.

Mette-Marit: Discussions Expected

In Norway, Verrett's statements have received enormous attention.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit met the press on Tuesday morning during an event. She mentioned that she hasn't seen the documentary yet and is unsure if she will.

"You should direct your questions to the Crown Prince," she told VG.

However, Mette-Marit predicts the documentary will lead to discussions within the palace.

"I'm quite sure of that."

Royal House's Response: Breach of Agreement

Princess Märtha Louise renounced her royal duties in 2022 and promised not to use her princess title for commercial purposes. Now that the documentary is out, the Norwegian royal house claims it breaches Märtha Louise's agreement with them.

"Everyone has the right to tell their story, including Princess Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett. At the same time, the Royal House wishes for a clearer distinction between Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett's activities and the Royal House. This will be the theme for future discussions," they wrote in an email to NRK.
