Search Continues for Two Missing Men
Two men are still missing after a boat accident near Näsåker. The search effort has now been ongoing for over a day and continues into Monday evening.
At 5:39 PM on Sunday, police and rescue services were alerted about a boat that had capsized at Kilforsen by Spegeldammen outside Näsåker in Sollefteå municipality.
The boat carried four people: a boy under 15 and three men in their 30s and 40s.
Witnesses described how the boat plunged straight into a waterfall next to the dam. One of the men managed to grab onto a rock edge and survived relatively unscathed, but the boy, who was pulled from the water, later died in the hospital.
The two other men are still missing.

The rescue service assisted in the rescue operation on Sunday evening but handed over to the police on Monday. Police spokesperson Marie Andersson in the northern region says the search effort is still ongoing more than a day after the alert.
"We have searched the area during the day, including with the help of divers and dogs, and the missing persons have not been found," she says.
According to Tidningen Ångermanland, the coast guard is also assisting in the search effort.
"If the persons are found, we will announce it," says Marie Andersson, who otherwise cannot provide further details on the search operation.
Schools and Church Open
Due to the accident, schools in Junsele and Näråker are open for students and guardians, and a condolence book is available at the citizen service office in Näsåker. The church in Näsåker has also been open for those who wish to talk or mourn.
