Scandic Introduces Breakfast Charges for Hotel Guests

Breakfast buffet after a night at Scandic? You'll now have to pay extra. The hotel chain will begin charging an additional fee for breakfast.

Breakfast is typically included in the room price at Scandic, which operates several hotels across the Nordics. However, a new policy will be rolled out this year, affecting hotels in Sweden as well, as first reported by SVT Uutiset.

Scandic believes this change offers more flexibility for hotel guests.

"Now they can choose to add breakfast to their booking, bring something small to eat, or skip breakfast entirely. The choice can be made before arrival or at the hotel, but we are now making it possible for our guests to decide if it should be included in the price or if they only want to pay for the room. This makes the price for a room without breakfast more competitive," writes Scandic's Communications Manager Malin Selander.

"Becomes Consistent"

The cost of breakfast may vary depending on the hotel and season.

Pilot tests have been conducted at several Scandic hotels in Sweden throughout the year, and according to Selander, guests have responded positively.

"It's worth noting that this has already been standard at Scandic's Signature hotels, our Scandic Go hotels, and our hotels in Germany and Poland, and moving forward, we will be consistent, regardless of which Scandic hotel you choose to stay at," writes Selander.
