During the first mass of the term, gunshots suddenly rang through the church windows. Robin Westman, 23, is now identified as the shooter in Minneapolis. Hours before the attack, Westman posted several disturbing videos on YouTube.

Two children, aged eight and ten, were killed, and another 17 people were injured during the morning's mass shooting in Minneapolis, USA.

Students at the Catholic church in Minneapolis had gathered in the nearby church for the weekly mass when the shooter opened fire.

23-year-old Robin Westman is now identified as responsible for the mass shooting by several media outlets.

According to reports from the Daily Mail, police are investigating a 20-minute video uploaded to YouTube hours before the shooting.

The newspaper describes the clip as somewhat of a manifesto, including a drawing that appears to be the inside of a church. The person filming repeatedly stabs the drawing with a knife, according to the Daily Mail.

The clips also show a series of weapon parts and magazines scribbled with messages like "for the children" and "kill Donald Trump."

Shot Through the Windows

According to the New York Post, the clips show diary entries in both English and Russian. The person filming flips from page to page while someone laughs hysterically, according to the newspaper. NBC also reports that Westman uploaded videos with "extremely violent thoughts and ideas."

In their online presence, Westman also displayed a fascination with mass murderers.

The shooter stood outside the church and fired through the windows. At least two of the doors to the church appear to have been barricaded from the outside, according to police.

Westman grew up in Minnesota and changed their name from Robert to Robin a few years ago. According to court documents obtained by Fox 9, Westman's mother applied for the name change as the perpetrator "identifies as a woman and wants the name to reflect that identification." The mother previously worked at the school where the victims attended.

After the attack, the perpetrator shot themselves to death.
