Richard Jomshof Criticizes Prime Minister Kristersson with Satirical Image

Richard Jomshof, a leading figure in the Sweden Democrats, has intensified his rhetoric against Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. He shared a satirical image on X, mocking Kristersson as a fish swimming with the current, with a suggestion that Jimmie Åkesson should take over. Jimmie Åkesson has now joined the discussion as well.

"A disaster," he writes on X.

The rift within the Tidö Agreement is growing. As previously reported by Expressen, the government's sudden shift in its stance towards Israel has not been well-received by parts of the governing parties, nor by the Sweden Democrats, who support the government.

Several prominent Sweden Democrats have criticized the government's actions, and now Jimmie Åkesson has entered the discussion.

On X, he writes that the government's actions are a disaster.

Åkesson further states that if they had anticipated the government would act in this manner, they would have demanded foreign policy guarantees in the Tidö Agreement. As it stands, foreign policy is a major area not included in the agreement.

Åkesson's comment comes after Richard Jomshof raised the tone against the Prime Minister by sharing a caricature on X on Saturday.

In the animated image, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson is seen in a sea of fish with a speech bubble saying:

"The most important thing is not to disturb the water."

And then a sign: Here we swim with public opinion.

"Pure Cowardice"

The image follows the government's U-turn on how the EU should act towards Israel. This is also what the post primarily concerns, writes Richard Jomshof in a text message, explaining that Ulf Kristersson is changing his stance with the wind.

"Many of us, as you already know, are surprised by how the government is now acting. Many of us also interpret it as pure cowardice, that they do not dare or have the strength to stand firm when strong leftist winds blow, even from parts of the media."

The decision to want to stop trade between Israel and the EU was announced by the government on Friday and has since created a rift between the Tidö parties.

– The Sweden Democrats consider it wrong, hasty, and counterproductive, said Aron Emilsson (SD), chairman of the foreign affairs committee, arguing that the decision plays into Hamas's hands during ongoing negotiations.

Richard Jomshof also emphasizes in the text message that the pressure should be on Hamas and not Israel, making a comparison to World War II:

"Accusing Israel for the situation in Gaza is as foolish as blaming the Allies for their bombings and invasion of Nazi Germany towards the end of World War II. The Nazis were responsible then, Hamas is responsible now."

Expressen is seeking Ulf Kristersson.
