The Israeli military has discovered the remains of two hostages in Gaza, declaring Gaza City a 'dangerous combat zone' and canceling promised ceasefires. This decision is likely to halt aid deliveries to the beleaguered population. The remains of Ilan Weiss, 56, were among those returned. The announcement follows evaluations and political directives, as Israel aims to gain full control over Gaza.

Remains of Hostages Returned to Israel Amidst Escalating Tensions in Gaza
Remains of Hostages Returned to Israel
The remains of two hostages have been found in Gaza, according to the Israeli military. Simultaneously, Gaza City has been declared a 'dangerous combat zone,' and the promised ceasefires have been canceled.
Starting Friday, the 'local, tactical pauses' promised in the warfare will be canceled, the military announced according to Israeli media.
This likely means that aid deliveries to the beleaguered population will be curtailed or stopped.
In July, the military announced that daily, ten-hour-long 'humanitarian pauses' would be observed in al-Mawasi, Dayr al-Balah, and Gaza City. These were to take place between 10 AM and 8 PM and be coordinated with the UN and international aid organizations. The directive came after several organizations raised alarms about famine and starvation in the war-torn area, and Israel faced harsh criticism from the international community.
Ilan Weiss, 56, Returned
Friday's announcement about the pause comes after evaluations on the ground and political directives, according to AFP.
The military has also returned the remains of two more individuals who were hostages of the terror-designated Hamas.
One of the individuals has been identified as 56-year-old Ilan Weiss, reports BBC.
Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated at the beginning of August that Israel intends to take full control over the entire Gaza. His administration has approved an invasion of Gaza City, the capital of the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip and one of the few parts of the area that Israel does not already have full military control over. The first phase of the offensive reportedly began last week.
