Record-Breaking Summer for Swedish Hotels

The summer season for hotels in Sweden was robust, with nearly six percent more occupied rooms than in 2024, according to the industry organization Visita.

A strong August, where the number of sold hotel rooms increased by 5 percent in Stockholm and 9 percent in Malmö, led to a record-breaking total summer result, as shown by preliminary figures from the Benchmarking Alliance, according to a press release from Visita.

Outside the major cities, demand increased by just over 6 percent.

Lodging revenues rose by 8 percent, most notably during June and August, driven by several large events.

Both Swedish and foreign guest nights increased during June and July. Notably, the number of foreign guest nights from neighboring countries rose. Norwegian guest nights increased by nearly 80,000, while Danish, Finnish, and American guest nights rose by approximately 50 percent compared to 2023, according to accommodation statistics from the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth.

The statistics from the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth do not compare with 2024 due to reporting errors in that year's statistics.
