Örebro's Winless Streak Continues with Defeat Against Sandviken
Örebro SK's nightmare continues. On Friday evening, they suffered a home defeat against Sandvikens IF. The team has now played 12 consecutive matches without a win.
After a goalless first half, visiting Sandvikens IF took the lead at Behrn Arena just over an hour into the game.
Moonga Simba scored with ÖSK's goalkeeper Malte Påhlsson stranded, and the home team, who had just appealed for a penalty, found no response. It was the 25-year-old's third goal of the season.
In front of 7,512 spectators – the match was chosen as the year's public match with free tickets – it was another disappointment for ÖSK, who have now played twelve straight matches in the Superettan without a single win.
"I don't know what to say, honestly," said ÖSK's Antonio Yakoub after the match.
He was visibly disappointed over the missed penalty call just before Sandviken's leading goal.
"You can see for yourselves. I have no standard for Swedish referees anymore," he remarked after watching the replay footage.
With three points, all from draws, the team is firmly anchored at the bottom of the Superettan alongside Umeå.
On May 14th, coach Sreten Kenic, who was brought in from IFK Värnamo before the season, was dismissed, and club icon Patrik Haginge stepped in.
Sandviken, on the other hand, rose to eighth place with their fifth win of the season, although they could be overtaken by Östersunds FK and Gif Sundsvall, both of whom have a game in hand.
