Prince Daniel on the Kids – Before Parnevik's Turnaround

Prince Daniel has faced some challenges in getting Prince Oscar and Princess Estelle interested in golf. However, things have taken a positive turn, according to the prince. Both Prince Daniel and his teammate Jesper Parnevik have a clear strategy to engage the children.

Prince Daniel tosses a handful of loose grass into the air to gauge the wind direction before teeing off on hole 3 at Ekerum Resort during this year's Victoria Golf Tournament.

It's the first round of the year on Öland for Prince Daniel, who also plays at Fågelbro Golf & Country Club on Värmdö, where the Crown Princess family has a summer house just a stone's throw from the golf course.

This year, the Crown Princess couple has been seen with Prince Oscar and Princess Estelle at Fågelbro's driving range, clubs in hand.

– It's going quite well!, says Prince Daniel about getting the children out on the course.

The prince says the key to motivating children and young people to try a new activity is to "give them the chance to try different sports."

– So maybe they will develop an interest in something.

Parnevik on the Turnaround with His Son

Golf companion and legend Jesper Parnevik, himself a father of four adult children, including artist Peg and entrepreneur Penny, agrees.

– My children tried most sports available in Florida – everything from soccer to golf to tennis to lacrosse.

However, Jesper Parnevik admits he didn't have much success with golf initially.

– But now they've started to like golf again! My son, Phoenix, thinks golf is cool.
