A 'Polish cyclone' is heading towards Sweden, bringing heavy rain and potential thunderstorms. SMHI has issued a yellow warning for torrential rain in central Norrland, with 30-50 mm expected. The cyclone, moving from Poland, will affect Öland, Gotland, and eastern Svealand by Monday evening. While the weather may clear by Wednesday, more fronts are expected later in the week.

Polish Cyclone Approaches Sweden: Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms Expected
Polish Cyclone Approaches Sweden
A 'Polish cyclone' is on its way to Sweden. As the low-pressure system moves in, heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning are expected.
– There will be a significant amount of precipitation, says meteorologist Martin Kjell.
On Sunday, SMHI issued a yellow warning for torrential rain in central Norrland.
Between 30–50 millimeters of rain may fall between 8 AM and 9 PM, and SMHI warns of potential flooding, poor visibility, and hydroplaning risks in traffic.
The stormy weather in the country will continue throughout the week as a cyclone moves in from Poland.
– It's a low-pressure system from Poland moving in on Monday evening over Öland, Gotland, and eastern Svealand, says meteorologist Martin Kjell at Stormgeo.
Rain and Thunderstorms
A cyclone is essentially the same as a low-pressure system, although it often brings to mind the severe storms known as tropical cyclones.
Where the low-pressure system moves over Sweden, significant rainfall is expected, according to Kjell Martin.
– There will be a lot of precipitation, and there may also be some thunderstorms.
By Tuesday night, the rain is expected to reach the coastal areas of Norrland.
Large parts of the country will experience lighter rain at the beginning of the week, says Martin Kjell.
– Except for the western part of Götaland. There, it remains fine, with 20 degrees and clear skies.
Clearing Up
By Wednesday, it looks like the weather will clear up again, and the sun will return, according to Martin Kjell.
However, the beautiful weather won't last long.
– New fronts will move in from the west later in the week.
The really warm days may be behind us, according to Martin Kjell.
– You can expect the Swedish summer warmth of 20-25 degrees to return, but the days of 25-30 degrees are gone.
