Police Halt Yasin's Performance at Festival
Yasin's scheduled performance in Kristianstad this weekend has been canceled at the last minute.
Rapper Yasin Mahmoud, previously convicted of several crimes, has been linked by police to the Shottaz gang and the Rinkeby conflict involving them and the Dödspatrullen.
Earlier this year, two planned performances in Sweden by Yasin were canceled due to police concerns over safety.
This weekend, Yasin was set to perform at the Trädgården festival in Kristianstad, and as recently as a week ago, the police had given the festival the green light.
However, the police have now reversed their decision.
– Just now, we have decided to revoke parts of the festival's permit concerning a specific artist, says Thomas Johansson of the Kristianstad police.
"Significant Danger"
He confirms that it is indeed Yasin who is affected.
– We made the decision to grant the permit last Friday based on the knowledge we had then. Now we have new information and assess that this performance cannot proceed without significant danger to those present and to the artist himself.
The rest of the festival still has police approval.
"We Are Looking for a Replacement"
On Instagram, the festival's organizer states that they are planning to replace Yasin.
"We have just received information from the police that Yasin will not be allowed to perform. We are looking for a replacement and will still offer a fantastic festival," they write.
Expressen has sought comments from the festival's organizer.
