Oskar and Robin's Unusual Marathon: Running Circles Around McDonald's

For five hours and seven minutes, Robin Andersson, 22, and Oskar Albinsson, 22, ran in circles around a McDonald's. A very silly idea.

It exceeded all expectations of how terrible it would be, says Robin Andersson.

A marathon around a living room table, a roundabout, and a McDonald's.

When 22-year-old Robin Andersson saw the unconventional running sessions shared online, he was inspired. He asked his friend Oskar Albinsson if they should try it themselves, as reported by Norran.

Said and done, on Thursday, August 14, the guys ran 100 laps around their local McDonald's in Skellefteå – a total distance of 42 kilometers.

– It's something you'll remember. It was silly, but fun, says Robin.

Preparation: Ice Cream and Cookies

Robin and Oskar met through sports and lived together for a period while attending Umeå Elite Sports Gymnasium. Despite their sporty background, the run was a significant challenge.

– It exceeded all expectations of how terrible it would be, says Robin.

A bit into the race, it started pouring rain.

– It continued until we had run 25 kilometers. You were both cold and sweaty at the same time, says Oskar.

They admit they might not have prepared in the best way. Oskar had eaten a meal box and a pack of cookies. Robin, on the other hand, had worked a night shift and only managed to eat a breakfast of grapes and ice cream before the race.

Despite the conditions, they eventually reached the finish line, with a total time of five hours and seven minutes.

– We were going to finish, it was as simple as that, says Oskar.

"A Memory for Life"

Still, they are happy they went through with the idea.

– Why would I train if I can't do something like this? The whole point is to have the opportunity to do silly things.

Robin agrees and even recommends others to try the challenge.

– It's a memory for life, just five hours away.
