Norwegian Citizen Arrested in Connection with Gothenburg Double Murder
A Norwegian citizen, suspected of the double murder in Gothenburg, has been arrested in Oslo, according to Norwegian TV2. The man was apprehended shortly after 1 AM on Thursday in a garage in the Grønland district.
– The individual is detained for other crimes in another country and is not formally detained in this case at the moment, says Emelie Kullmyr, police area chief in Greater Gothenburg.
The police have a suspect for the double murder on Tuesday. This man has now been arrested in Norway, but for other crimes he is suspected of there.
He allegedly threatened police with a gun before being arrested, writes TV2. A detention hearing in the case is scheduled for 1 PM on Thursday.
On Tuesday, two men were found shot in a rental car at a parking garage in the Lunden district of Gothenburg.
According to information from Expressen, they were dead when police and ambulance arrived. They were sitting next to each other in the front seat – shot in the back of the head – and police believe they were shot from the back seat, reports Expressen.
The police never received any alert about gunfire, states local police area chief Johan Sjöstrand.
– There is no information that shots, bangs, explosions, or similar were heard.
According to information from Expressen, witnesses had heard bangs and then saw a masked person leaving the scene on a green electric scooter.
Linked to the Biskopsgården Conflict
Police assess that the murdered men are connected to the ongoing conflict between criminal networks in Biskopsgården on the other side of town.
According to information from Expressen, one of the victims is a man in his mid-20s to 30s who has previously been convicted of robbery, obstruction of justice, and serious weapons offenses. He was conditionally released last summer after serving nearly three years in prison.
Stopped with C.Gambino's Manager
The other man, also in his mid-20s to 30s, is convicted of drug-related offenses. He has never been convicted of any serious crime but is described in a police report as "a known individual from Biskopsgården." He was previously stopped in a car with a man who was on the board of rapper C.Gambino's music company and was the subsequently murdered artist's manager.
According to information from TV4 Nyheterna, the double murder may be revenge related to the murder of C.Gambino. He was shot dead in a parking garage in Hisingen last summer.
