Nikola's Wild Challenge: Consuming 25 Steak Tartares in 48 Hours

Nikola Zivkovic from Gothenburg ate 25 steak tartares in less than 48 hours, capturing the attention of thousands on TikTok and Instagram.

Steak tartare is one of the most delicious dishes, according to Gothenburg resident Nikola Zivkovic, 30. However, it will be a long time before he eats it again. Over a weekend, Nikola purchased and consumed 25 steak tartares at 25 different restaurants, as first reported by Göteborgs-Posten.

– I actually didn't eat until nine or ten in the evening the next day, says Nikola.

The idea to test steak tartare came from his followers. Nikola works as a teacher during the week. In his spare time, he runs a social media account where he eats and reviews food from various restaurants.

– Along the way, people stopped me. Cheerful Gothenburg locals would say: "Oh, I follow you! Is steak tartare number six next?"

The Aftermath: "Crazy Headache"

The nearly two-day test was tough for several reasons.

– You have to be strong in the stomach. It has to handle all the raw meat. But also, above all, mentally. That's almost even more important.

– Some weren't tasty. Then you might feel like: "Now I'm on the fourteenth steak tartare. And it's not that good." Then you're not very excited.

The Cost

Nikola was worried his stomach would suffer. But to his surprise—and the restaurants' delight—it didn't. However:

– I actually got a crazy headache.

– It was like I was in a steak tartare bubble. All I thought about was: Steak tartare, next steak tartare, next steak tartare. So on Sunday, it was like everything just released and my head exploded. That was the worst part of this journey.

Crowning Gothenburg's best steak tartare over a weekend can take a toll on both health and wallet. The restaurant visits cost a total of over 5,000 kronor.

– People have been so grateful that someone took one for the team, says Nikola.
