Mysterious symbols on a field. This discovery was made by Dan Thornberg, 56, and his son Ruben, 21, during a flight.
In mid-August, Dan Thornberg and his son Ruben from Sundsvall embarked on a flight in the family plane, an Aeroprakt A22. The flight had been planned for a long time, but earlier that day, Dan's 87-year-old mother had passed away after a sudden illness.
The entire family had gathered to say their goodbyes.
– I asked Ruben if he really wanted to fly, and he did. Mom would have wanted us to fly, says Dan Thornberg.
“A Symbol of Love”
During the flight, Ruben was at the controls, allowing Dan to look out over the landscapes. When they were near Ljungaverk outside Ånge, something caught his eye.
Down in the field, he saw a heart and another symbol.
– I felt there was some meaning in seeing it. It meant something to me. A heart is a symbol of love, and yes, you love your mother, and she loved us children. I started thinking about how hard she worked in her life, says Dan Thornberg, who also shared the event with Sundsvalls Tidning.
He wrote a post on Facebook asking if anyone recognized the symbol.
– I understood it was some form of human influence and wanted to find out who did it, he says.
Farmer Behind the Symbols
It turned out that the creator of the mysterious symbols was a farmer who has been creating patterns for ten years each spring, which are then plowed away in late summer.
This summer, it was a heart and the Chevrolet logo, he tells Sundsvalls Tidning.
– Many years ago, I saw someone in the USA had cut out the shape of an electric guitar in a field, and I was inspired. It's quite simple to drive the seeder extra along the contours, so it shows when the crop grows up.
Questions from the UFO Community
Despite the symbols not being so mysterious, members of the Swedish UFO community contacted Dan Thornberg asking for permission to use his photos.
– They want all the pictures that look like a UFO made them, but I already know it's nothing supernatural. So I felt I didn't want to give them the pictures, he says.
