Moderate Women's Union Demands Annika Strandhäll's Resignation
Following reports of an unsafe work environment at S-kvinnor, the Moderate Women's Union is demanding that Annika Strandhäll step down.
"She must leave her position," says Annsofie Thuresson (M).
Annsofie Thuresson is the chair of the municipal council in Kävlinge. As the chair of the Moderate Women's Union, she has engaged in debates and discussions with the Social Democratic Women's Union on gender equality and women's rights in Sweden.
However, after reports of workplace issues, she no longer sees S-kvinnor as a serious counterpart.
"I was both horrified and shocked when I learned of the information. My conclusion is that their development is regressing."
M-women: "Medieval"
"It's a medieval view on women," she says.
Two women revealed in an Expressen investigation that Nina Unesi, chief of staff and union secretary, allegedly suggested employees disclose their menstrual cycles for approval of remote work.
"Having a menstrual check at a workplace is absurd and completely unacceptable," Thuresson asserts.
Now, M-women demand that Annika Strandhäll resign as chair of S-kvinnor.
"The only way forward is to take responsibility. She has not fulfilled her duties and must leave her position," says Annsofie Thuresson.
Magdalena Andersson (S) also needs to show decisiveness, Thuresson believes.
"I understand that Andersson has spoken with Strandhäll. That's good. But it can't stop there. Conduct a thorough review. Is this a cultural issue present in other parts of the party?"
