Mistaken Identity Leads to Fatal Shooting in Växjö: Teenagers Sentenced

Teenage murderers went to the wrong address in Växjö and killed the wrong victim. They were mistaken for being related to Mikael “Greken” Tenezos' associate. The teenagers are convicted of murder.

The couple had just returned home from a Monday gym session when a teenage boy and a girl, each armed with a pistol, awaited them in the stairwell.

Seconds later, the 30-year-old woman lay shot on the hallway floor, dying in her husband's arms.

“Breathe, darling, breathe,” the husband is heard saying during the emergency call.

The victims had no connection to criminal activities. According to the investigation, they were mistaken for being related to a central figure in an ongoing gang conflict: a 20-year-old man from Växjö's criminal environment linked to the Dalen network and leader Mikael “Greken” Tenezos.

The verdict is now delivered in the high-profile murder case in Teleborg, Växjö, on December 16, 2024.

A 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl were charged with acting on behalf of individuals connected to the Foxtrot network but went to the wrong address.

The perpetrators, who received instructions in encrypted chats, were praised by accomplices but soon realized their mistake.

The teenagers are now sentenced to prison for murder and attempted murder—the 15-year-old boy to six years and five months, and the 16-year-old girl to six years and eleven months. The girl, a Russian citizen, is also deported from Sweden.

“They are convicted of very serious crimes, and if they had been over 18 years old, all three would have been sentenced to life imprisonment,” says the court's presiding judge, Magnus Wickman.

In total, six people were charged with murder, attempted murder, and incitement, with four convicted. Another 15-year-old boy is sentenced to seven years and six months for incitement, having recruited the shooters and given them instructions via the encrypted service Signal.

The investigation reveals a sum of up to 300,000 kronor mentioned for carrying out the task.

A 29-year-old is sentenced to life imprisonment for aiding and abetting murder. He provided the shooters with weapons.

A 16-year-old boy is also sentenced to eight months of juvenile detention for, among other things, serious weapons offenses and serious unlawful threats.

Mikael Tenezos and his 20-year-old associate are both internationally wanted and detained in absentia for several violent crimes. They are hiding together in Mexico, a country with which Sweden lacks an extradition agreement.
