McLaren Denies Rumor of Trump Test Driving F1 Car
A wild rumor has gained significant traction within the Formula 1 community. Is former President Donald Trump set to test drive a McLaren car next week?
The somewhat bizarre rumor took off during Saturday's qualifying at the Canadian GP after French Canal+ shared the unexpected news on X.
"Donald Trump will drive an F1 car next week!" wrote Canal+, citing the channel's long-time reporter Julien Fébreau.
According to Fébreau, the British team McLaren allegedly offered the U.S. president the opportunity at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin in a week. The post quickly gained attention, sparking widespread speculation.
McLaren has now chosen to address the rumor's validity. In a brief comment to several media outlets, including Mirror, the team stated:
"It is not true, he will not drive our car."
Canal+ subsequently removed the post from X.
