Massive Fire Engulfs Row Houses in Upplands-Bro

A significant fire has erupted in a row of houses in Kungsängen, Upplands-Bro municipality, northwest of Stockholm.

The alarm about the fire was received just before six o'clock on Friday morning, and it is believed to have started from a gas grill on a patio. The fire then spread to several homes.

An entire row of houses, comprising eight homes, is completely destroyed.

The fire has also spread to one of the adjacent rows.

– A fire is ongoing in one apartment, and we are working hard to establish containment lines. So far, these lines are holding, says Sverndal.

Shortly after 9:30 in the morning, the rescue services announced that they had managed to stop the fire in the second row.

No Reports of Injuries

The rescue services are working with multiple resources on-site, and residents have been evacuated. Weather conditions at the site are reportedly favorable, with no strong winds.

There are no reports of injuries.

Residents in the area are in shock. A woman wrapped in a blanket is searching for her cat.

– There have been fires in several rows here before, and I live a few hundred meters away, so of course, one gets worried. You never know what will happen next. Naturally, you become cautious, says Hans Lille.

A woman living nearby recounts that she woke up to what sounded like firecrackers and then received a call from a neighbor urging her to leave.

– It was a fully developed fire, all the way. The flames were several meters high, she says.

The police have launched an arson investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the fire.
