– The apartment building cannot be saved. It will burn down under controlled conditions, says an emergency operator at the rescue service.
At around 10:30 PM on Sunday evening, emergency services were alerted to a fire in an apartment building in Boden. A total of about 20 units from the rescue service have responded to the fire.
– It is an extensive attic fire, and it is burning along the entire length of the building. All residents have been evacuated, says Ulf Gille, alarm and operations operator at the rescue service.
The fire is so extensive that the rescue service has decided to let the building burn down. The house consists of two floors and an attic, with a total of 14 apartments.
– They are still working to protect adjacent buildings. We have many units on site, says an emergency operator at the rescue service.
By 3:30 AM, the rescue service expected to be able to send some units home shortly.
POSOM Group Activated
According to SOS Alarm, an ambulance has also been dispatched to the scene, but no one has been injured.
– The POSOM group has been activated via the rescue service, so the parish hall in Boden has been open, says police RLC officer Lina Åström.
POSOM stands for psychological and social care.
The exact cause of the fire is unclear.
– We actually have no information about it. It started on the attic floor, but how it started is unclear, says the emergency operator at the rescue service.
The police classify the incident as public negligence. There are no suspects in the case.
