A man with gunshot wounds has been found outdoors in a residential area of Upplands Väsby. The man was shot multiple times and has been taken to the hospital by ambulance.
– We have a comprehensive operation with special units, dogs, helicopters, patrol cars, and all available resources out to hunt for the perpetrators, says Ola Österling of the police.
The police were alerted around 5:30 PM on Thursday afternoon about loud bangs in a residential area in central Upplands Väsby.
At the scene, a man with gunshot wounds was found. The man was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
– The man has been hit by several shots, says police spokesperson Ola Österling.
Following the shooting, the police have deployed significant resources in northern Stockholm County.
– We have a comprehensive operation with special units, dogs, helicopters, patrol cars, and all available resources out to hunt for the perpetrators.
Suspected Attempted Murder – No Arrests Made
Initially, the police stopped all commuter trains from stopping at the station in Upplands Väsby after the incident. By 8 PM, the station was reopened for traffic.
The shooting is believed to have occurred at one location, and the injured man was later found at another. Both locations are cordoned off by the police.
The police are working throughout the evening with interviews and information gathering, reviewing surveillance footage, and conducting crime scene investigations.
The incident is classified as attempted murder, but no person has been arrested.
