The accident occurred shortly after half past midnight on Saturday in central Fagersta.
A police car collided with a man on Köpmangatan. The man died at the scene, and his relatives have been notified, according to the police website.
– The police car was severely damaged, a witness told Aftonbladet.

An investigation into causing another's death has been initiated. It is led by a prosecutor at the Special Prosecutor's Office, the unit that investigates suspicions of crimes against police officers.
The prosecutor does not want to comment further on the incident, citing confidentiality and the early stage of the investigation.
