Man Arrested at School in Vingåker

A man has been arrested after acting threateningly at Slottsskolan in Vingåker. He is suspected of making illegal threats and violating knife laws.

– It's incredibly disturbing, says the school's principal, Per-Ola Andersson.

During the morning break, around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a man in his 60s armed with some form of sharp object appeared at Slottsskolan F-6 in Vingåker.

– The man threatened students, specifically one student, says principal Per-Ola Andersson.

No child was harmed, but many are now shaken.

– It's terrible that this can happen, and this time it was at our school. We are grateful that no one was physically harmed, says Per-Ola Andersson.

Evacuation

The children were evacuated to the school, and police were called. The first patrol arrived within about five minutes.

– It was a very quick response. We have had a large police operation that is still ongoing, says Per-Ola Andersson.

The man is in police custody and is now suspected of illegal threats and knife law violations.

Police and Social Services

Parents have been informed about the incident, and the children, who have been inside the school since the incident, are now being picked up. The school will remain open for children whose parents have not received the information, says Per-Ola Andersson.

– We will gather the remaining children and talk. The police have offered to join the conversation, and social services are also here, he says.

It is not yet decided how Wednesday will proceed.

– We will make new decisions about that in the future.

Thankfully

The police are now questioning the man to clarify what led to the crime he is suspected of. The patrol quickly gained control of the suspect after arriving at the scene, says Angelica Israelsson Silfver, spokesperson for Police Region East.

– Together with the staff, we have ensured that all the children are accounted for and that the students could then be guided out to their parents, she says.

– It is, of course, a tough situation, and many are shocked and upset, but thankfully no one has been physically harmed.
