Ludvig 'Heap' Alonso to Represent Sweden in European Championship
This summer, Ludvig 'Heap' Alonso will represent Sweden in the European Championship. The Eyeballers player has a unique CS education background.
– It was incredibly cool to play with them and I learned so much, he shares.
The European Championship in Kosovo is just around the corner.
When the Swedish CS team Eyeballers forms Sweden's national team this summer, Heap will wear blue and yellow for the first time.
– It has always been a childhood dream to wear a national team jersey, regardless of the sport. When I was younger, it might have been more about hockey, but now it's e-sports. So it's cool, he says at a national team gathering.
He sees the team's form curve as on the rise after a tough season, even if it doesn't always show in the results.
The team recently recruited Kalle 'Ro1f' Johansson, and the hope is that he will be the final piece before things start to click.
– He contributes a lot, he's super positive, fun, and great in his role. He adds a voice to the team, which we needed, says Heap.
Played with Legends
Heap himself has had a unique CS education. In his first major team, Dignitas, he played alongside the legendary NIP duo Friberg and F0rest.
Today, he also plays with the three-time major winner JW.
– It was incredibly cool to play with them and I learned so much from them. The same goes for JW now and the time I got to spend with Flusha when he stepped in, says Heap.
He has also reunited with Pita from his Dignitas days, who is now Eyeballers' coach. Heap describes him as the best coach he has had in his career.
Now he is looking forward to the European Championship in Pristina, Kosovo, starting on July 9.
– I don't have a super good grasp of all the other teams, but I know that Germany is fielding a good team with Big. So we'll take it as it comes, but I expect us to perform well.
