Lotta Klemming: From Troubled Past to Oyster Fishing Success

Lotta Klemming's wild oyster catch is served at the world's finest restaurants. In her "Summer in P1" radio program, the oyster fisherwoman shares how she caught the attention of Noma in Copenhagen.

Aptonyms are delightful. An oyster fisher named Klemming—how can one not be amused?

However, Klemming's life in the small town of Grebbestad on the west coast seems to have been anything but delightful. In her summer talk, she touches on a childhood marked by severe bullying, mental health struggles, anorexia, and even a suicide attempt in the sea she has come to love.

The tough journey on land eventually leads to the safety found at the sea's bottom, glimpsed only briefly, like ripples on the surface.

In the depths, it's different. Not only does Klemming feel strong there, but she also manages to articulate the wondrous underwater world and all it encompasses.
