Loredana Bertè's Surprising Words on Björn Borg's Autobiography

Loredana Bertè had a tumultuous marriage with Björn Borg. Now, for the first time, she speaks about his biography "Hjärtslag," set to be released on September 18.

Björn Borg's "Hjärtslag" is one of the most talked-about autobiographies of the year.

The book, co-written with his wife Patricia Borg, will be released not only in Sweden but also in Italy, the UK, Australia, Spain, Latin America, and the USA.

Publisher Norstedts promises that the tennis star will, for the first time, tell the full story of his life.

However, ex-wife Loredana Bertè was unaware of Björn Borg's book when Expressen visited one of her concerts in Italy.

The couple had a stormy marriage from 1989 to 1993.

– He is the only man I have truly loved, but our relationship was anything but healthy, she says.

– I took care of him and fought hard to help him with his demons, but I failed.

"Couldn't Take It Anymore"

The Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera has called Bertè's marriage to Björn Borg "one of the most fairy-tale-like and ultimately devastating love stories in Italian music history."

In her own autobiography "Traslocando," released in 2015, the singer describes a destructive relationship that ended because Borg used cocaine.

Borg has previously denied using the drug more than once. But Loredana reiterates that it was what ended the marriage.

– It became more important than the love for me. In the end, I couldn't take it anymore. I left him, the Italian states.

Despite the marriage's collapse, the story of Borg and Bertè continued. Shortly after their divorce in 1993, Bertè reported the tennis icon for bigamy.

The reason was that Borg married his current wife Patricia while the couple was still married according to Italian records, according to Bertè.

And as recently as last year, she tried to win Italy's equivalent of the Eurovision Song Contest to go to the Eurovision final in Malmö and get revenge on Björn Borg.

– Vote for me, I would like to go to Eurovision because it is held in Malmö. Then I will annoy my ex-husband. I will have a nice revenge, she said during the music competition according to Corriere dello Sport.

Missing Robin

Now, however, she feels differently. Loredana tries to focus on the bright moments they had together.

– After all these years, I still have fond memories of Björn. The rage has subsided, she says.

Bertè is still immensely loved in her homeland. Many in the audience this evening have chosen the same blue hair color as the singer. Several have brought homemade signs with declarations of love.

In her homeland, she is a beloved artist and feminist. She has captivated Italy for over 50 years.

In Sweden, she is best known as Björn Borg's ex-wife.

The tennis star was a big part of her life. And she dreamed of having children with the Swede. Nowadays, she mostly thinks about Björn Borg's son Robin, whom Björn had with model Jannike Björling, who grew up in her home.

Loredana decorated his boy's room and made sure he spoke both Italian and Swedish, she says. She thinks a lot about him and hopes he is well. Robin Borg has turned 39.

– In this whole situation, little Robin is the person I miss the most, she says.
