Despite a European boycott, Hungary continues to purchase Russian oil, prompting Kristersson to remind Hungary of past European support during its struggles for freedom.

Kristersson Criticizes Hungary: 'On the Wrong Side of History'
Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is outraged by Ukraine's attacks on Russian oil. This has prompted a strong reaction from Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
– Hungary is on the wrong side of history, he says.
Despite a broad European boycott of Russian oil, Hungary and Slovakia continue to regularly purchase oil from Russia.
When Ukraine attacked an oil pipeline from Russia to Europe on Friday night, Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán harshly criticized Ukraine.
"Hungary supports Ukraine with electricity and gasoline, in return they bomb the pipeline that supplies us with electricity. Very unfriendly move," Orbán wrote in a Facebook post.
Kristersson: Hungary Sides with Russia
Orbán's statement has provoked a strong reaction from Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
– When Ukraine now successfully attacks Russian oil pipelines, Hungary's foreign minister responds that "Ukraine wants to drag us into the war," says Ulf Kristersson in a comment to Expressen.
He wants to take the opportunity to remind Orbán of how Europe has historically supported the country.
– In 1956, we stood by Hungary's side when they tried to free themselves from Russian and Soviet oppression. And in 2004, we stood by Hungary's side when they wanted to join the EU, says Kristersson, adding:
– Hungary's thanks for this is now to side with Russia when a European democracy is fighting for its life. Hungary is on the wrong side of history.
