Kristersson Condemns Deliberate Russian Drone Incursions

Russian drones deliberately violated the airspace of Poland and Romania this week, according to Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

"This is a serious escalation from the Russian side, likely intended to test NATO's capacity," he stated.

On the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, Poland, supported by fighter jets from other NATO countries, shot down 19 Russian drones that breached Polish airspace.

On Saturday, a Russian drone also violated Romanian airspace.

During a press conference about the government's defense initiatives, Ulf Kristersson confirmed that the drones originated from Russia.

"We have information confirming that these were Russian drones and that the violations were deliberate," he said.

"We Have Intelligence Evidence"

He further addressed the perception that it is unclear where the drones came from or whether the incursions were accidental.

"We know they were Russian drones, and we know it was intentional. This is a serious escalation from the Russian side, likely to test NATO's capacity," Kristersson reiterated.

He declined to specify the nature of the evidence.

"But we have intelligence evidence that it was Russia who did it."
