Klarna Unveils New Payment Card
The Swedish fintech giant Klarna is launching a new payment card with both debit and credit functions in Sweden and a host of other European countries.
This announcement comes as Klarna, a major player in online payments and credits, is expected to take significant steps towards a stock market listing in New York this week.
Klarna's payment card, which allows users to choose between paying directly with their own money or opting for a 30-day invoice, was already launched in the US in July.
"The launch follows a successful pilot in the US, where 685,000 Americans have already acquired the card since July," Klarna stated in a press release.
Klarna's CEO and founder, Sebastian Siemiatkowski, commented that the card restores consumers' ability to choose between paying directly or with credit using a single card—a feature most banks no longer offer.
The card's launch coincides with reports that Klarna's anticipated New York stock market listing will kick off with a marketing period this week.
