The eight individuals arrived at the Kiruna healthcare facility on Tuesday, as reported by P4 Norrbotten.

– The situation involves a limited group of patients and is being handled with utmost seriousness and precision, says Helena Fredriksson Ågren, head of emergency departments in Kiruna and Gällivare and healthcare leader for the Kiruna healthcare area, in a press release.

According to P4 Norrbotten, the group consists of foreign tourists seeking medical attention.

There is no suspicion that the broader public is affected or at risk.

Hospital Activated Emergency Protocol

The hospital activated its emergency protocol due to the incident but returned to normal operations by Tuesday afternoon.

Activating the emergency protocol means the hospital mobilizes its crisis management organization to optimize care, resources, and communication.

In Sweden, there are about ten poisonous mushrooms, many of which can be mistaken for edible varieties. For instance, the death cap mushroom can easily be confused with edible mushrooms.
