SD leader Jimmie Åkesson dismisses claims by L-leader Simona Mohamsson that she loves Sweden more than he does, calling it 'silly'. Mohamsson, who once opposed the Sweden Democrats, now embraces liberal values and asserts her love for the country. Åkesson argues that love for Sweden cannot be measured and is based on different motivations.

Åkesson Responds: 'Competing in Love for Sweden is Silly'
L-leader Simona Mohamsson claims she loves Sweden more than Jimmie Åkesson does. Now, the SD leader responds.
"It's downright silly to express oneself like that," he writes on X.
In an interview with Expressen's Anette Holmqvist, Simona Mohamsson discusses her upbringing in Överlida and how she became a politician to combat the Sweden Democrats' racism.
Today, Mohamsson has changed her view of the party, while asserting that her love for Sweden is greater than Jimmie Åkesson's because she has embraced the liberal values that characterize the country.
Comments that draw criticism from the SD leader.
"I don't think you can compete in loving Sweden. It's downright silly to express oneself like that. However, one can have different motives for feeling love. One can, like Simona Mohamsson, love Sweden on a constitutional, political basis," he writes on X.
Åkesson's love for the country is not based on values considered modern today, he writes in the post:
"For my part, I love Sweden because it is my country. The only place on earth where we Swedes have an exclusive right to be just Swedes. Because it is the country that my ancestors built and made into the place that has given me a safe and harmonious upbringing."
