In the early hours of Monday, two men aged 20-25 were shot dead in a car in Kallhäll, northwest of Stockholm.
Images purportedly showing the victims in the car have circulated on social media. Police consider the images authentic and they are now part of the investigation, according to TV4 Nyheterna.
A person was arrested on Monday morning suspected of involvement in the double murder. TV4 Nyheterna reports that the suspect is the taxi driver who allegedly drove the shooter to the crime scene. The perpetrator is reportedly still at large.
Expressen reports that one of the victims is a network-affiliated criminal man in his 20s who was previously suspected of a murder in Stockholm in 2021.
Previously Suspected of Murder
These suspicions were dismissed in 2023. Just weeks later, he was arrested on charges including serious weapons offenses. He was convicted and imprisoned until July this year.
The man murdered in 2021 has a relative who is a well-known rapper with gang affiliations. Shortly after the murder, the rapper shared an image interpreted as a reference to the murder. This is now one of the leads in the police investigation, according to Aftonbladet.
According to Svenska Dagbladet, police suspect it may be revenge for the 2021 murder.
The other murder victim in the car is linked by police to the Zorba criminal network based in Upplands Väsby, according to the newspaper. Aftonbladet reports that one of the police's leads is that the murder may be related to an internal conflict within the Zorba network.
