Justice Chancellor Declines Investigation into Expo After Forssell's Son Revelation
The Justice Chancellor will not initiate an investigation against Expo. The complaint concerned defamation and was filed after the revelation that Migration Minister Johan Forssell's son was linked to right-wing extremist organizations.
In mid-July, Expo was reported for defamation following an investigation into the minister's son's involvement in violent right-wing extremist circles.
SVT was also reported for a segment on the investigation.
In Expo's article, both the minister and his son were anonymous. It was Johan Forssell himself who chose to reveal in a live interview on TV4 that it was about his son, not a "relative" as previously reported by the media.
The Justice Chancellor, JK, has now announced that no preliminary investigation will be initiated against Expo and SVT following the reporting, as noted by the news agency Siren.
The Chancellor states that charges for the freedom of expression crime of defamation are only brought in exceptional cases when justified by public interest, and such reasons are lacking.
The complaint also involved the violent left-wing extremist organization Afa Stockholm, which, after Expo's revelation, released several personal details about Forssell's son.
Regarding Afa, the complaint has been referred to the police, as the organization's site is not protected by constitutional law, making the Justice Chancellor the wrong authority.
