Jimmie Åkesson was interrupted by activists during his summer speech in Sölvesborg. He also promised a new initiative on food VAT and demanded harsher penalties for pedophiles.
– I am talking about life imprisonment for pedophiles who commit sexual crimes against children. I am talking about chemical castration, he stated.
Jimmie Åkesson began Thursday's summer speech with international issues and the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
– There are people, even elected officials, who defend these terrorists in Sweden, Åkesson said about Hamas.
Shortly thereafter, he was interrupted by activists in the audience.
“Jimmie, you are Sweden's answer to Netanyahu,” read a sign.
The activists were quickly removed by police, and Åkesson was able to continue his speech.
– This is exactly how we feel about anti-Semitism here in Sölvesborg, Åkesson remarked.
Promises on Food VAT
The activists later told Expressen that they wanted to conduct a peaceful protest against Israel's policies.
– Someone has to voice the criticism, what a turn they have made. Now they are Netanyahu's soldiers, said Ali Khader, who participated.
In his speech, Jimmie Åkesson also discussed how he wants to boost the economy and ease the burden on households.
– We need to do what we can politically to influence food prices downward. I have previously talked about food VAT, and I expect we will be able to deliver something in that direction shortly, he said.
Åkesson: Castration for Pedophiles
He also spoke about crime and punishment, stating that it will take time to tackle gang crime. He wants to allow police to use methods like crime provocation in the hunt for pedophiles and to toughen penalties.
– I am talking about life imprisonment for pedophiles who commit sexual crimes against children. I am talking about chemical castration. I am talking about voluntary surgical castration to be able to get a fixed-term sentence, Åkesson said.
