When Ida Fejer opened her fridge, she was met with a frightening discovery. On one of the shelves lay a hissing snake.
– I had time to think: "Oh my God."
It was last week when Ida Fejer, 45, found the shocking discovery in her fridge in Ekerö. As she was putting away breakfast, she spotted a snake on the top shelf, which Mitt i was the first to report.
– I had time to think: "Oh my God, now the kids have pranked me." But it was actually moving, it was a real snake lying in my fridge.
Ida, who doesn't usually find snakes unpleasant, was scared when she saw the fridge snake.

Eventually, she managed to gather the courage to close the door and call pest control, who informed her they don't handle snakes. Instead, she contacted a snake expert in Gothenburg, who had never heard of anything like it.
With the help of some blurry pictures, the snake expert determined it was a grass snake.
– I asked him: "How do I get it out then? Should I call the fire department?" He just said: "No, no, no, gather some courage and do it."
Snake Released with BBQ Tongs
A neighbor came to the rescue with BBQ tongs, gloves, and a pool net, and fearlessly released the snake into the wild.
How it got into the fridge remains unclear. Ida's theory is that the cat Flisan, who is a skilled hunter, is involved.
– The only reasonable explanation is that Flisan brought in a snake and released it. Then the snake fled to the nearest safe place.
Which happened to be one of the vegetable drawers on the floor while the fridge was being cleaned. It stayed there, Ida believes.
Despite the shock, the incident hasn't scared the family.
– The kids just think it's incredibly exciting and fun, and think the cat is clever for catching things, says Ida.
