How to Prevent Your Luggage from Getting Lost: Expert Tips

Lost luggage can put anyone in a bad mood. Here, a flight expert shares tips on how to avoid it happening to you.

Summer is here, and many are likely planning a flight or two during their vacation.

But a lot can happen, and lost luggage is a classic incident that can upset anyone.

So, can you do anything yourself to prevent your bag from disappearing? The answer is yes, at least according to Martin Wallander, Manager Procedure Sort at SAS. He emphasizes in a press release from the airline that it's good to attach the stickers you receive, which you might have wondered about. They serve as a backup if the luggage tag comes off.

– One of the most common reasons is simply that the luggage tag falls off. Therefore, be sure to mark your luggage with the small stickers. Want to be extra sure? Attach a name tag or place a note with your contact information inside the bag.

Avoid Powerbanks and Medications

There are some items that should not be checked in, including powerbanks, as well as so-called "items of special value" like medications, business documents, and computers and cameras.

There are other things that can go wrong when flying – one of the worst being missing the plane. Many take the opportunity to fly during the summer vacation, and SAS Duty Supervisor Erik Ahrens writes in the press release that it's important to arrive at the airport in good time.

– Especially during the summer, many people travel. Peak times are in the morning and during the afternoon, he writes.
